Marcello A .Canuto,
Project Co-Director Dr. Marcello A. Canuto is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Yale University. He has conducted research in Belize, Mexico, and Honduras, most recently completing research on rural sites near the Classic Maya center of Copan, Honduras. His interests include the socio-political integration of the Classic Maya society, the socio-political dynamism of ancient frontier zones, and the social impact of archaeology in modern Central America.

Ellen E. Bell, Project Co-Director Ellen E. Bell is a Visiting Instructor of Anthropology at Kenyon College. She has conducted archaeological research in Honduras and Belize, and is the Co-Director of the Kenyon Honduras Program that provides undergraduates the opportunity to conduct independent archaeological and ethnographic field research. She has investigated a series of royal tombs and offerings at the Classic Maya center of Copan, Honduras, and the investigation of craft production in the Naco and Cacaulapa valleys, Honduras. Her interests include the role material culture in the development of political power and the dynamics of frontier zones.
